Indicative Scenario Planning ProjectsProject DescriptionsPart One: Private Sector ProjectsResource Planning for an Integrated Healthcare Delivery System. In 1998 a newly merged Integrated Healthcare Delivery System engaged us to develop a long range strategy that would help them to rationalize the strengths of the different components of the System; give them a differentiating strategy in a highly competitive market; and create alignment among entities that had once been competitors. This was a complex System that had elements in both urban and suburban settings, as well as a teaching hospital attached to a university and about three times as many Boards as entities. Several of the hospitals were well-regarded in highly specialized areas and (unfortunately) those areas of high expertise were occasionally duplicative in the new System. With an exceptional Core Team, we developed five scenarios and ran a strategy workshop with all the senior executives if the System. From the synthesis of the workshop, we developed a 12 point System-wide strategy that included strategies in governance, physician relations, IT, supply chain, brand management, migration to system-wide standards, rationalization of service, and human resources. Senior executives were assigned to each strategy and made responsible for initiation. |
