In January, as part of our five-year contract to support NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) strategic alignment activities, FSG will contribute to the yearly LaRC senior management off-site. Using our Accelerators & Derailers analysis technique (which examines important external trends and events and their potential impacts), we will support LaRC leadership efforts to anticipate and prepare for the various contingencies that may deflect attainment of the Center’s near- and medium-term goals as they align with the strategic goals of NASA headquarters. |

FSG principals will shed practical light on the critical success factors behind implementing long-term plans and strategies at the World Future Society’s 2007 conference in Minneapolis, MN, July 29-31. The session is called “Beyond Enlightenment: Translating Big Thoughts into Concrete Actions,” and it will draw on FSG principals’ 20-year experience in conducting scenario-planning exercises for some of the world’s most successful companies and governmental organizations, including the U.S. Coast Guard. | Project Horizon in Year Two ... |
The Futures Strategy Group and its partner Booz Allen Hamilton have wrapped up the initial phases of a large and ambitious multi-agency strategic planning exercise known as Project Horizon. Organized by the U.S. State Department, Project Horizon brings together senior executives from global affairs agencies and the National Security Council to conduct long-term interagency strategic planning. Teams identified strategic interagency capabilities in which the U.S. Government should invest in order to prepare for unforeseen threats and opportunities that will face the nation over the next 20 years. Last year, the State Department hosted three interagency strategy workshops in Washington, attended by 200 participants, from the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and the following agencies, among others: Agriculture, Defense, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Justice, Labor, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Environmental Protection Agency, and USAID |
